Dendrobium (Dendrobium nobile)

Background
Dendrobium orchids are one of the most well know
orchids in the cut flower and potted plant markets.
The Dendrobium orchids has the most diverse and it is the
second-largest orchid genus. These plants come many
different colors, shapes, and fragrances.
Care
Dendrobium orchids like high light intensities.
If the plant does not have adequate light intensities it
will cause spindly stems and little or no flowers.
Dendrobium plants do not need a lot of water. They can
survive with long periods of dry conditions. But for
best flowering, regular watering and fertilizing is needed.
Fertilizers such as Peters 20-20-20 or MiracleGro in one
gallon of water is recommended.
Miscellaneous
Denbrobium media is made up of
bark, perlite, charcoal, coconut husk, and other large sized
materials. These materials are used because they
produce good drainage for the orchids roots.
Propagation
When the Dendrobium plant gets larger, you can
divide the plant at the root base in half to create a new
plant. This divides a stem and roots together.
