Green Point Nursery won two ribbons from CTAHR-developed varieties of anthuriums from the Society for American Florist 2009 outstanding varieties competition. A blue ribbon was given for the ‘Marian Seefurth’ pink anthurium that CTAHR’s Dr. Haruyuki Kamemoto (TPSS) helped to develop, and a red ribbon for ‘Tropic Ice,’ a white and green anthurium also developed by Dr. Kamemoto, with Dr. Adelheid Kuehnle (TPSS). — Society of American Florists, 11/2/2009

Cindy King, a 2003 Apparel Product Design and Merchandising (APDM) graduate, unveiled her 30-piece Acid Dolls Spring/Summer 2010 collection at the Honolulu Design Center last month. Cindy started Acid Dolls with Cecilia Kim in 2003 while both were still students in the APDM program. Cindy has since re-partnered with another APDM classmate and now celebrity stylist Crystal Pancipanci, who will serve as director of business development. Crystal founded her company, Panci, in 2006 and is a leading authority on beauty and fashion. — Honolulu Star-Bulletin, 8/13/2009
